About the opportunity
Helping to create a warm and friendly shopping environment for customers, and answering queries about Worthing Churches Homeless Project. To work as part of a team of staff and volunteers and to contribute to the smooth day to day running of the Charity Shop and treating everyone with respect. (In the Bike Repair Project) Receiving donations of bicycles and answering general queries about the services offered with regards to bike repairs, maintenance and sales. Referring bookings to the staff member on duty. Serving customers using an electronic cash register including processing card transactions. Maintaining the neat and tidy appearance of the shop which may involve some light cleaning duties. To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty, and to be adaptable to any possible change in circumstances. To maintain at all times the Christian ethos of WCHP, offering equal access to our services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability. About Worthing Churches Homeless Projects
Activities, befriending, providing shelter, food, clothing, help to overcome drink and drug misuse, to help rebuild lives.
What are they looking for?
The ideal person doesn't need to have shop experience, but they must be able and willing to carry out with training, all aspects of the role such as using the till including card machine, sorting and using judgement about donated stock, pricing and putting items on shop floor, potentially answering queries on the charity/issues of homelessness. Full training is given.
The Bike Repair social enterprise aspect of the shop, is a 'Client Facing' role so a DBS check is required, as well as the standard 2 character references and the volunteer would need to be aged 18+
