What's not in V-Base 3.0?
Added to V-Base 3.0 on August 11, 2011When we started developing V-Base 3.0 we announced some features that, regrettably, we are now unable to include.
- Using V-Base 3.0 across multiple sites - We originally intended to host V-Base 3.0 data for partners, removing the need to network V-Base and making it easier to access across multiple sites. This is no longer possible; partners will need to store their data on their own network or computer. You will still be able to access V-Base 3.0 across multiple sites by using a Virtual Private Network, as with V-Base 2.5.
- Outreach working - V-Base 3.0 will not contain the ability to automatically ‘sync’ data. Partners will still be able to carry out outreach work by following the same arrangements as they currently do, for example, using a copy of V-Base on a laptop and manually updating the master database when back in the office or by connecting via an internet connection through a Virtual Private Network.
- Linked Access Database - The linked access database will be replaced by V-Base 3.0’s more flexible reporting tool.
Why aren’t there features that have previously been promised?
In order to ensure that V-Base 3.0 wouldn't be further delayed it was necessary to remove some functionality. To include all the functionality we had intended to incorporate in the first release would have realistically taken another 12 months.
