V-Base 3.0

Launched in 2000 as part of the Do-it project, V-Base enables volunteering agencies to advertise their opportunities to the general public, and has become the UKs most comprehensive and widely used volunteering management software.

V-Base 3.0 is the next version of V-Base. It's currently in the final stages of development so keep checking back to find out more.

Why V-Base 3.0?

We get lots of feedback from our users and act on it whenever we can.  A few years ago it became clear that you needed far more functionality than V-Base 2.5 could provide. Both technology and our users' needs had changed so we decided to redevelop V-Base from scratch.

Together with V-Base users we put together plans for the next generation of volunteering management software: V-Base 3.0. This product will meet the evolving needs of its users and provide them with tools to meet their aims more effectively.

When will it be launched?

Our development team are beavering away and are working hard to meet our users' needs and get the full product out into the wide world and it's due to be sent to VDAG (the V-Base Development Advisory Group) for beta testing in September 2011. We hope to begin rolling it our to partners shortly after this. You can find out more information about the release details and upgrade process via the menu on the left hand side.

Why has it taken so long to develop?

Times, technology and the needs of our partners have changed since we initially scoped the V-Base 3.0 project. This has led to a delay in the release of V-Base 3.0, but also means that, when it is complete, it will be of the highest possible standard.

The future – beyond V-Base 3.0

Once we've released V-Base 3.0 we'll be able to update and improve the new software quickly, easily and on a regular basis. VDAG will be included in this process too. They'll help us prioritise the feedback we get so we make the most important improvements first.
