How to 'Compact & Repair'

Added to V-Base 2.5 on May 19, 2009

As you add and delete information from V-Base, the data will not be as tidily stored as it could be, and therefore use more memory than necessary. Using the compact and repair function will help improve performance.

To improve performance, as well as resolve any odd errors, compact and repair the database regularly.

It does no harm doing this even if you don't think it's necessary.

First logon to V-Base and then select “Compact and Repair” from within the Technical section.

Next click on “From time to time the database...”

Please make sure at this stage that you are the only person using V-Base in order for the compact and repair to run.

Confirmation will be given that the compact and repair was successful.

The following video demonstrates visually how to do this.

How often should I Compact and Repair?
We recommend that you perform a compact and repair on your data as often as possible but at least once a week. It should be considered as part of your weekly data maintenance.
