Syndication
What is syndication?
Our syndication service allows you to create a volunteering opportunity search on your public facing website or intranet and is a great way for you to attract more visitors. Syndication is an excellent way for you to promote:
- Your own opportunities on your own website (if you post opportunities on Do-it)
- Volunteering opportunities to your staff on your intranet site – there are over 1 million opportunities in our database
- Opportunities in a certain geographical area
- Opportunities in a certain sector, such as education
- The type of activity the volunteer will be undertaking, such as administration
With syndication, search results and opportunity descriptions are published in your own templates. That means potential volunteers, whether members of the public or your employees, will be able to search for their ideal volunteering opportunity without leaving your site.
Syndication is dynamic so once the service has been set up opportunities on will automatically be updated. We can also provide you with monthly reports on how many people use your service and the types of opportunities viewed. If you direct potential volunteers to apply via our registration form we can also give you reports on the profile of these volunteers.
If you’re a charity/non-for-profit organisation you can find more information on the benefits of syndication and the annual fee. If you’re a company find out how it can enhance your public website or intranet.
What support do we provide?
Each syndication partner is given a guide explaining how to set up the service. This should have been provided to you as part of your initial information pack. If this is provided as a separate document the document is named titled ‘do-it Web Service User Interface’. If you do not have this document please contact us.
Unfortunately, we cannot give you online or offline support on how to develop your website. We can offer support if you experience unexpected error messages or results. Most of your queries will hopefully be answered in our FAQ
Should the FAQ not answer your query please contact us. Please remember to provide as much information as possible, this will help us diagnose your problem more quickly.
Do you offer a service level agreement?
The service level agreement is at the end of your content licence agreement. This document is a legal contract between your organisation and YouthNet (the charity that runs Do-it) and outlines both parties’ obligations. Find out more about the content licence agreement.
How to offer feedback/suggestions
We really value the thoughts and ideas of our syndication partners, so if you have any thoughts on how the service can be improved please share them with us.
