Why did you sign up for V-Base Recruiter?

We recognised the Do-it site as a valuable resource for the MS Society to recruit volunteers. We were particularly interested in promoting our volunteering opportunities to a more diverse range of potential volunteers and saw that Do-it would offer us the opportunity to do this. 

What was it like setting up an account?

The account was relatively easy to set up and it didn't take too long to get to grips with the system. The training that is now offered to account users would make this process even easier. 

What are the most useful aspects of the V-Base Recruiter?

I think that the most useful aspect is the ease with which you can place your vacancies and update your account. It is also useful to be able to see all of the information in one place. Additionally, the expired option where you can still keep the vacancy information is particularly useful for those roles where you might need to recruit again in the future – it saves you a lot of time. Another useful addition to the system is the countywide posting service which has made the system far more useful for the MS Society as we have a number of roles that are regional and national. 

How many volunteers do you recruit via Do-it each year?

Last year we received 36 enquiries through Do-it. Of course, our branches and regions register their vacancies through their local Volunteer Centres so this figure doesn't represent the total number of enquiries for the MS Society through Do-it.

What would your advice be to any other organisations considering getting a V-Base Recruiter Account?

I would recommend that organisations give V-Base Recruiter a go as it is an easy way of tapping into a huge number of potential volunteers. It is also relatively easy to manage – especially if you attend the training. Posting a vacancy takes a short amount of time so it doesn't need to have a big impact on your workload, although if you get the wording right you could end up spending time dealing with a large number of enquiries!
