How Do-it works|

Launched in 2000, Do-it is the most diverse and comprehensive national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK.

The opportunities are provided by over 350 Volunteer Centres in England and more than 300 national and regional charities, representing 28,000 organisations. In addition, we provide our database of volunteering opportunities via our Do-it syndication service to partners who can display their opportunities on their own sites, in their own 'look and feel'.

How Do-it works

Each month, Do-it attracts an average of 130,000 visitors. Of these, 54,000 people go on to register for at least one of the opportunities listed. Do-it provides details of around 1 million opportunities to volunteer throughout the UK, any of which can be found with a simple postcode search.

Opportunities from everywhere

The opportunities are managed at a local level and kept up-to-date using bespoke software - developed by YouthNet - called V-Base. Popular and easy to use, many other organisations involved with volunteers and volunteering opportunities have chosen V-Base to manage their own volunteers and opportunities. We have also developed volunteering management software called V-Base Recruiter that allows volunteer involving organisations with a national presence to input their volunteering opportunities directly into Do-it. Please use our flow chart to help you decide which way to post your volunteering opportunities on Do-it.

Beyond Do-it

We currently work with over 35 syndication partners, who place our data on their websites. These includes: Marie Curie Cancer Care; DirectGov; The National Trust; JobCentre Plus, TimeBank; and v. A full list is here.
