About syndication
|
Would you like to have our volunteering opportunity search on your website?
For an annual fee you can syndicate our search and present it in your website's own look and feel. It's a simple way to add value to your site and offer a great new service to your users.
How it works
Our opportunity search is fed through to your website and automatically kept up-to-date. So, people can search our database without leaving your site. It's straightforward to set up and easy to maintain.
As set out in the Content Licence Agreement, we retain ownership of the data but you can present it as an integral part of your own site, using your choice of fonts, colours and layout.
You can take a feed from the whole database or just select parts of it.
Some organisations who already post to the do-it.org.uk's national volunteering database via V-Base, or as an Online Poster, choose to present only their own opportunities. Rather than setting up a separate database they syndicate the opportunities they have already uploaded. An example can be seen on the Birmingham Voluntary Services Council website.
Others like to take certain categories of opportunity – for example, those to do with the environment. You can choose to display opportunities from as many or as few categories from the lists of Activities and Interests as you like. An example of this type of feed can be seen on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs website.
How your organisation will benefit
Syndicating our opportunity search adds huge value to your website. With as many as 800,000 opportunities across the country, it's a unique resource – the biggest volunteering database in the country. There's a huge variety of organisations listed, from the big national charities to small community groups. And the range of roles and activities is huge.
It's also really easy to use. We've had tens of thousands of volunteers register and get great feedback in our annual user surveys. Organisations including the National Trust and Marie Curie Cancer Care have found that it can work just as effectively syndicated to their own site.
Whether you want to offer the full listing or targeted opportunities relevant to your organisation and users, syndicating our opportunity search will add a new dimension to your website.
Corporate syndication
It's not just charities that can take a feed of our opportunity search, it's available to companies as well. If you're interested in adding value to your corporate website or intranet, read more on the YouthNet website.
