Radio Work Assistants
Phoenix Radio Empower Project
The opportunity
Volunteers will assist staff in training young people in all aspects of radio work. Volunteers will be trained in how to use the studio and the use of the following software packages: Cool Edit Pro (used for editing interviews, jingles and adverts), Adobephotoshop (used to design leaflets), Powerpoint (to create presentations and portfolios)
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to assist with preparation for future broadcasts.
Volunteer training takes place on a Wednesday. Once trained, the role with young people would be on another day.
The organisation
Phoenix Fm provides a community radio station for Calderdale. The station, based at Dean Clough is non profit making and is run entirely by volunteers. Phoenix Radio Empower Project is funded by ESF to provide training in all aspects of radio work to young people who are unemployed between ages 16-25.
Skills/Qualifications
communications skills and use of computers.
