For the first time, overseas volunteering charity VSO is targeting professionals from the charity sector with backgrounds in marketing, project management and mid-to-senior level management, for volunteer placements overseas.

Historically VSO has limited its recruitment efforts in the charity sector to fundraisers - who continue to be in great demand from overseas partners. However, in the last few years it has seen a steady increase in the number of requests from overseas partners for volunteers from the charity sector with management skills.

"Since the late '90s VSO has seen the number of requests from our overseas partners for management volunteers rise steadily," explains Vicky Starnes, marketing advisor at VSO. "Although this is a new area of recruitment for VSO it is also an exciting one as it offers professionals from the charity sector an opportunity to work at a grassroots level on issues they already feel passionate about."
