The Commission On The Future Of Volunteering is inviting people to take part in a major consultation on the state of volunteering in the UK.

Whether you're an experienced volunteer or someone looking for their first opportunity, the Commission would like to hear from you.

Their vision is that: "Volunteering is an opportunity for people to do something positive and rewarding. It is about people investing in each other without seeking financial gain. It generates giving and sharing, and it makes everybody feel valued and appreciated. It is a platform for community development and social cohesion, often generating networks of friendship and support. It often opens doors to discover untapped energies, creativity and skills that are within us but we were not aware existed until we got involved…. Everybody is a winner when volunteering."

But does the reality match the ideal? The consultation will be running until the middle of May, so make sure you have your say.
