All kinds of volunteering can make a difference to society, but opportunities like these have community enrichment at their core.

New Year New role

So 2012 has been so busy so far......

Last month I started as Open College Network (OCN) Internal Verifier / Moderator for the Gas Yard which so far has consisted of training to be able to perform the role in Belfast for the day.  Organising training to suit everyone thats going to be involved in OCN so everyone is singing off the same sheet so to speak.

The first real part of my role starting was organising the training for everyone who would be using OCN as part of thier programmes.  Which to be honest was an experience. First was to get a date that suited everyone and getting enough people to do the training, which wasn't so bad, but meant a change in date and time.  So much so on the actual day the trainer agreed one time with me and then thought she had agreed a different time, panic???  No was so cool kept everyone entertained, well ok I let them entertain themselves while I tried to see where the trainer had got to.   Then as well as that being left to make sure everything ran as smooth as it could which so far doesn't sound too good does it.  Then the trainers laptop wouldnt connect to the television screen which meant getting some technical help which wasn't so bad so crisis averted.

The actual training though let me know what I was taking on as the Internal Verifier and I think a lot of it is going to be trial & error as it is something new to the Gas Yard too, I'm just glad I wasnt the only person that done the Internal Verifier Training.  Fingers crossed it all goes ok though..Just watch this space........

I'm working on my evaluation of the survey done over the Christmas Period of the Volunteer Investment Project, which is going well don't really want to say too much as its still a work in progress.  I'm learning though about surveying and report write ups and still learning its all good though, and hopefully will come in useful for future work I do within the Volunteer Investment Project.

I've kind of lost the will to live with my campaign and lobbying course and cant see me completing its shame  but think I've a lot on at the moment too.  So maybe should get back to this evaluation ha!

Nearly forgot last week was also at Magee Ulster University for Student Volunteer Week it was extremely busy so much so I had done up enough volunteer packs to give out and had to phone up for more packs to be sent up to the uni and VD saved the day bringing everything she could find, we ended up going back to the gas yard with not much at all, sign of a good day for volunteering I hope.
