The Campaigners' Blog

Let's face it, most people who volunteer are passionate about helping people - but for some influencing social change is also important. Volunteering for a campaigning organisation allows volunteers to help make things happen for large charities. Find out what the grass roots activists get up to here.

Try something new :-)

Well I finally got back here again........The latest on my YAA is that its going for moderation this month so hopefully i've done enough to achieve that.  It was hard work to finish but I think it will be well worth it.  Last week I made an update on what the Barnardo's Young People's Regional Advisory Group has achieved over the last year which also includes what is developing.

With the work I have been doing with UKYouth I have also spent a lot of time working on a questionnaire.  Researching what young people think of the Youth Achievement Award as part of our Movers & Shapers project, which is up and running now on survey monkey. The UKYouth Voice confrence '09 is looming ever closer  :) So will be rechecking things for the workshop and hopefully putting together a presentation on the Youth Achievement Award to present at the conference.

So..................... What do I get out of all of this????

Through all of the above volunteering I genuinely develop my skills as well as learning new skills. I get to meet some fantastic people along the way and all my volunteering has opened many opportunities.  I also get to tell all of you reading this!  I know that I have helped someone out or informed someone in a small way probably but at least they have got something from my volunteering.

I've built up my confidence and got so many other things out like........my YAA, I've travelled around the country (Not all at once.Ha!)   Want all of this and more for yourself or even just to get out of the house now th summer holidays are near? Then why not give some volunteering a go???? Go on u know you want to. Do -it.  :D
