The Campaigners' Blog

Let's face it, most people who volunteer are passionate about helping people - but for some influencing social change is also important. Volunteering for a campaigning organisation allows volunteers to help make things happen for large charities. Find out what the grass roots activists get up to here.

Young Partners Award ceremony in London

Hi folks!

Well as I mentioned in my last entry I was off down to London to the Young Partners Award Ceremony that we were shortlisted for and guess what............

THE YOUNG PEOPLE'S REGIONAL ADVISORY GROUP (YPRAG) won it for the North East Region.  It was a hard weekend it was non stop as usual; we travelled down to London on the train getting to the venue just in time after messing with the buses, it was hard to find the venue felt like we walked for miles..The group were given a certificate and a cash prize, so we're looking at what we can best put that to use.  The Participation Manager was really shocked as I think so were we except for one member of the group he kept saying to me when they were reading out the North East nominations that 'We're going to win, and the winner is Barnardos YPRAG' and he was right.

When it was over we were all on a high and went shopping and sightseeing in London on the evening.  Some did a bit more shopping on the Sunday morning i didnt I had lush hot chocolate in the cafe upstairs.  It was good though.  Then on the way back we talked about how best to put the money to use, which im sure we'll discuss further, soon.

Oh a week today and I meet the PM and Mrs Blair!!! Its all go!!!

Better go bye
